YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 34-year-old Moxee man who pleaded guilty to selling counterfeit air bags was sentenced in federal court in Yakima to two-and-a-half years in prison.

Jason Jordon pleaded guilty to selling falsely labeled air bags on the Internet.

Federal prosecutors say he sold near 2,000 air bags in 2011 and 2012 for more than $441,000. The bags were installed on cars at garages that thought the bags were legitimate replacements.

Yakima Herald-Republic reports (http://bit.ly/1e7EhfV ) the National Traffic Safety Administration has warned counterfeit air bags consistently malfunction in tests, but there have been no reports of deaths or injuries from the counterfeits.
