KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH) - Nearly $350,000 in counterfeit items were seized by Kershaw County investigators Tuesday in Elgin.

According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, investigators following up on information from the Tennessee Attorney General's Office obtained a search warrant for the home of 65-year-old Frederick L Bartlett.

Authorities say the search warrant was executed on March 5 and investigators seized $342,000 worth of counterfeit trademark logos that included Monster Energy heat transfer logo, Hollister heat transfer logo, Harley Davidson heat transfer logos and NCAA heat transfer logos from different colleges and universities. Machinery used in the application of these logos was also taken by investigators.

Bartlett was arrested Wednesday and taken to the Kershaw County Detention Center.

Matthews says he did not have a prior arrest record.

“Monster Energy, Fox Sports and Hollister are quite happy that Bartlett’s operation has been shut down. Our officers are attempting to notify the NCAA to advise them of this operation. This is another great example of law enforcement agencies working well together, even across state lines, ” said Matthews.

Matthews says the information from the Tennessee Attorney General's Office was connected to a raid on a business in Gatlinburg.
