A man has been jailed after selling around £220,000 worth of counterfeit designer t-shirts on eBay over six years.

Barry Wayne Pritchard, 47, was sentenced on the basis that he made £120,000 out of the illegal enterprise.

Pritchard of Cae Gabriel, Penycae near Wrexham, had been warned by trading standard officials about his activities.

But he continued to trade – even when he was on bail after his arrest.
Trading Standards

At an earlier at Mold Crown Court he admitted trademarks offenses and was convicted by a jury of fraud offenses and participating in a fraudulent business.

The judge jailed him for 18 months.

Now an investigation under The Proceeds of Crime Act is to take place to see how much of his ill-gotten gains can be confiscated.

Wrexham trading standards said he sold JLS, Grease, Elma Fudd, Top Gun, Pingu, Led Zepplin and Stone Roses t-shirts as genuine and Vauxhall baby grows.

The defendant was convicted of possessing a printing press, a garment printer and a computer and its software in connection with the fraud.
