PALMER — A man attempting to avoid traffic Saturday by flashing a badge could not escape Alaska State Troopers with real badges, authorities said
Troopers say they responded Aug. 30 to Mile 17, Old Glenn Highway after receiving reports that Kenneth Depoy, 23, of Anchorage, was flashing a fake badge at nearby vehicles in an attempt to avoid traffic.
Depoy drove his gold Chevy pickup faster than 80 miles per hour, weaving through traffic, and tailgating other vehicles, while trying to get them to yield using the badge, according to trooper reports.
Troopers arrested Depoy for second-degree impersonating a public servant and reckless driving, then drove him to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility.
Depoy had posted a $1,000 bond by Monday morning, corrections records show.
