The s300 is a plug-in module to the OBD1 factory Honda Engine Computer (ECU) which vastly expands the capabilities of the factory ECU. Forced induction, data logging, real time updating of parameters, engine protection are but a few of the s300 features. Note that there is a rectangular frame ECU version of the s300 and a square frame ECU version (s300J).
Counterfeit S300s engine computers have been sold as new and used in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. This counterfeit circuit board is a poor quality copy of the revision 8 (r8) S300.
Counterfeits are typically sold as used on online forums for a low price. The installation is poor, with bad soldering, missing / invalid serial numbers and missing or incorrect value components.
The counterfeits may show some or all the following behaviors:

We do not advise driving your vehicle on a counterfeit S300 due a risk of engine damage.
