Over the past several years many Chinese companies have cloned the design of ACS phones and are mass producing counterfeit copies. Generally these copies look similar to ACS phones, but are made with substandard parts which will malfunction, overheat, and in some cases fall apart in your hand.
Approximately 25% of these products fail right out of the box. Those that do work have a life expectancy of 0-60 days, and those days will be plagued with problems of poor range and sound quality, and other problems.
The counterfeit base and the original look similar. But look closely and you will see some pretty major differences.
On the counterfeit 328RR the interface jack is nothing more that a decoration on the plastic. The tone - pulse switch does not fit the hole in the case.
The interface jack on the original 328RR is used to hook it up to a computer.
The base of the real ACS 328RR handset and the counterfeit are considerably different.
Note the location of the battery contacts.
