Product Information:

Counterfeit and third party USB adapters may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues. While not all third party adapters have an issue, you risk damage to your equipment using counterfeit chargers.

Customer safety is a top priority at Apple. That's why all Apple products -- including USB power adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod undergo rigorous testing for safety and reliability and are designed to meet government safety standards around the world.

Counterfeit USB Adapters have not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is unknown if these Adapters comply with the safety requirements for the United States or Canada. Counterfeit USB Power Model A1385 Adapters may bear a counterfeit UL Mark for United States and Canada.

Authentic Apple Model A1385 adapters are authorized to bear the UL Mark.

Be very wary of unauthorized sellers and e-commerce websites including eBay and Amazon. Counterfeit products are often listed on eBay and Amazon and sold to unsuspecting buyers as "genuine" or "100% authentic" items at prices close to retail.

Due to the complexity of testing required to detect an unsafe or counterfeit adapter, Apple Retail and Apple Authorized Service Providers CAN NOT advise you on the authenticity or safety of your adapter.
